Frequently
Asked Questions
(FAQs)
- Do I have to go on the checkout trip with
Sea Lab?
- No. You can take the class with us and do
your checkout dives virtually anywhere in the world. If you choose
to a referral, you would need the appropriate forms and records
from Sea Lab. The cost of the referral is $30
- Where are the classes and pool sessions
held?
- The classroom sessions are held at Sea
Lab. We conduct the pool sessions at our own pool, or at the
Mountain Park Aquatic Center.
- What type of certification will I receive?
- Our students receive their Open Water
certification through Scuba Diving International (SDI). SDI is
an internationally recognized certification agency. Check them
out on the Web at www.tdisdi.com
(email: worldhq@tdisdi.com
).
- How much time do I have to
complete the entire course?
- It is to your advantage to complete each
component of the course in a timely manner, with as much
continuity as possible connecting the online course and
classroom and pool sessions. We recommend no more than one month
between completion of the course and your open water dives.
- Does my certification expire?
- At this time there is no time limit on the duration of
your certification. It is a lifetime license to scuba dive. However, if you haven't been diving in more
than a year it's a good idea to take a brief refresher course.
There are also many ways for you to further you diving education
by enrolling in specialty courses like Nitrox, Deep Diving,
Night Diving, and more.
